My friend agreed to do me and my internship site a huge favor in this coming week. To show her my appreciation I crafted a stuffed dog with the yellow eyes and pinkish-red snout of her very-missed dog back home in Wisconsin. I had no idea what I was doing, but I did discover that using rice to stuff certain areas provides good weight to hold large pieces upright. I'm still having a whole lot of trouble embroidering the facial features (but I just received a nifty book on embroidery stitches that I plan to practice). Another little trick I came up with was using distress ink to give the cream-colored fur a slightly dirty appearance (because what dog is ever perfectly clean?). I also thought the hint of color added some personality to Finny. Once again, thank you special friend :)
Finny kept me company at the sewing station before he was given to his Momma.

Finny partied with us on July 4th.
