Why Buy When You Can Make?

A few weeks ago my friend Chelsea and I were wandering the charming streets of downtown Fort Collins. In a boutique store featuring crafty journals, clothing, and jewelry I fell in love with a long chain necklace featuring a caged bird charm (it looked a bit like this: click here). However, I didn't have the money to purchase it :( I was then walking through Michaels with my Mom when I came across an identical charm by "Tokens" (seriously, the exact same charm at a fraction of the price). I knew that I had leftover chain at home so I brought it on home and created my very own birdcage necklace with a personal touch of pearl, antiqued filigree connectors, and toggle clasp :) So when you fall in love with a piece of jewelry - next time ask yourself, would it be cheaper to make this myself (it very well may be)!
